Travel Berkey

I've been using my travel Berkey for about 9 months and have been very pleased. I live alone and probably refill it every 2-3 days because I use a lot of water cooking. The construction of the Berkey is high quality, and the filtered water it produces tastes much better than tap water. I doubt you can find a better filter for the money. I do have one question: is the spigot made of BPA free plastic? I only ask because the water in the lower chamber spends so much time in contact with the plastic spigot.

The spigot on the travel berkey leaks, the fact that it does not come standard with a water level gauge requires that you are currently checking the level of water, the spigot does not allow for adequate water flow meaning that filling a glass or kettle with water takes some real patience.

I looked at the other berkey units but decided on the travel berkey because of its compact size. After recieving it I definately made the right choice. Its just me and my wife and the travel berkey is perfect.One of the customer service reps suggested I try only one filter. I use 2, but I think I might try it and see if it produces enough water. Then I would have an unused replacement filter.
